MADELINE (May 2007)
"In an old house in Paris,
that was covered in vines,
lived twelve little Girls
in two straight lines..."
Madeline Rescue.
Madeline is one of 12 little girls in a boarding school under Miss Clavel. She
may be the smallest of the girls, but she is fearless and bold, which often
causes Miss Clavel to worry. One day, while balancing on the railing of a
bridge, she falls into the water and is rescued by a stray dog. The girls
beg Miss Clavel to take the dog in and they name her Genevieve. She is
loved by all the girls, but when an inspection of the school by the board of
trustees takes place, the dog is forbidden and driven away. The girls are
miserable, they go out searching but cannot find Genevieve, until one
night, the dog finds it's own way home. The girls are delighted, but fight
over her. However, Genevieve has brought home a pleasant surprise...
Madeline and the Circus.
Pepito is lonely so he invites the girls to a Gypsy carnival and circus. They have a wonderful time until a storm
comes up. Pepito and Madeline are accidentally left behind on top of the Ferris wheel. They are rescued and
cared for by the Gypsy Mama, but also taken with her and taught to be circus performers. Meanwhile, the
devastated Miss Clavel receives a post card from the two and rushes to find them. But the Gypsy Mama has
sewn lion costumes onto the children, making them difficult to recognize.
Madeline and the Bad Hat.
The Spanish ambassador moves into the house next door with his wife and son
Pepito. The children are excited over the new neighbour, but quickly realize that
this boy is a bad hat. He torments animals and puts them in cages. He would like
to impress the girls, but they give him the cold shoulder. One day one of his
pranks gets him badly injured and would have been worse if Miss Clavel and
Madeline hadn't saved him. He vows that he has learned his lesson, and
becomes a very good boy and best friend to Madeline and the girls.
Madeline in America.
Madeline receives a cable saying her great-grandpapa in America had passed
away and left her all his earthly wealth. Madeline is very sad at the news, but she
must attend the reading of the will, so Miss Clavel and the girls fly to Texas. They
are met by the lawyer Crockett, who shows them around Madelines vast
inheritance. This includes herds of cattle, oil fields, a gold mine and even a share of
the worlds greatest store, from which the girls are given a wealth of Christmas
presents. This is all very exciting for the girls, but Miss Clavel worries that they
may be getting spoiled by all this sudden luxury.
